MTD is amped to be part of the inaugural Makers Market—a design pop-up at Good Form Gallery in Eden Terrace 11-12 October 2025.
Makers’ Market represents an exciting evolution in New Zealand’s design landscape, a dedicated celebration for designers and design lovers seeking truly exceptional and unique pieces.
While Auckland’s vibrant cultural scene already honours art and fashion with devoted events, Makers’ Market now gives design the spotlight it deserves, with a special focus on elevating the voices that matter most: independent creators.
This October, Good Form launches Makers’ Market, an immersive weekend design experience that promises to become a cornerstone event for the design community. Unlike many design events that can become dominated by large corporations and big-budget displays, Makers’ Market deliberately champions the independent spirit, showcasing the personal visions and unique perspectives that smaller, passionate creators can offer.
Set within Good Form’s stunning new gallery, housed in a beautifully preserved 1950s architectural gem in central Auckland, the market will feature a carefully curated collection of design objects from New Zealand's most innovative and visionary independent designers. This is design with character, crafted by individuals who bring genuine creative vision to every piece.
A Unique Opportunity for Designers /
For architects, interior designers, collectors, and design enthusiasts, this represents an extraordinary opportunity to discover objects that are fresh, distinctive, and authentically local, pieces that tell stories and reflect genuine creative vision rather than corporate design-by-committee approaches.
A Tactile Design Experience for Aucklanders /
“New Zealand is bursting with independent design talent, and we’re thrilled to create a platform that showcases their incredible ingenuity without the noise of big-budget marketing,” says Good Form co-founder Emma Eagle.
“These passionate creators and emerging professionals deserve recognition and better pathways to connect with their audience. This event celebrates their individual craft and unique visions while connecting them with people who truly appreciate fresh, tangible, and authentic design that comes from the heart.”
An Invitation to Discover /
The result is a marketplace where individual creativity can flourish, meaningful connections develop, and New Zealand's independent design talent takes centre stage, demonstrating that compelling design comes from the dedication and vision of passionate makers.
Drawing inspiration from internationally celebrated events like Copenhagen’s 3 Days of Design and Melbourne Design Week, Makers’ Market fills an important gap in New Zealand’s cultural calendar while staying true to its grassroots mission. More than an exhibition, it's envisioned as a dynamic hub for conversation, discovery, and developing meaningful connections.
