About Malcolm Taylor Design

Not your average triple-threat, designer Malcolm Taylor is an award-winning residential and commercial architect, respected jazz drummer and—due to a childhood accident—the possessor of a long-term hearing impediment.

For many years these three elements have influenced the architectural spaces he designs to incorporate a strong acoustically supported factor.

Along the way he has created light shades, and wall and ceiling panels using sound absorbing products. This has allowed him to manage or reduce noise in cafes, restaurants, offices and homes while being visually appealing.

With the advances in manufacturing and access to recycled acoustic materials, Malcolm began to more seriously develop a range of products for design-savvy people looking for ecologically friendly options who appreciate the added acoustic absorption element.

His creative director and design-history loving partner, Nicola Devine, has worked with him to refine his products, brand and marketing.

Aimed at discerning architects, interior designers and aficionados of creative spaces, these products are perfect for those requiring design flair and eco-credentials, created right here in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Malcolm welcomes the opportunity to present lectures on his creative practice, as well as develop or collaborate on commercial or art-based commissions and installations.
