Introducing the East Breeze Screen

A Lightweight Solution Inspired by an Architectural Icon

The East Breeze Screen by Malcolm Taylor Design, led by Creative Director Nicola Devine, offers a modern reinterpretation of architectural screening. Inspired by the iconic concrete block facade of Gerald Durrell Stone’s New York City townhouse, the concept was initially envisioned in concrete breeze blocks. But with permanence being a constraint in a rented office, the idea evolved—leading to a more flexible, material-conscious solution.

A Refined Take on Spatial Division

Designed as a versatile alternative to heavy masonry, the East Breeze Screen brings visual interest and functionality without the structural weight. Its geometric pattern nods to classic architectural motifs while offering modularity suited to both temporary and fixed applications.

Light, Acoustics, and Atmosphere

Beyond its visual appeal, the screen subtly manages light and sound. Its perforations diffuse daylight, softening harsh glare and casting shifting patterns across interior surfaces. At the same time, the material’s acoustic properties help reduce ambient noise—making it an ideal choice for workspaces and studios where focus matters.

Sustainable Materials, Thoughtful Execution

The East Breeze Screen is crafted from recycled materials with a soft, felted texture—striking a balance between ecological responsibility and design integrity. It’s lightweight, easy to install, and well suited to a variety of interior settings: from windows and dividing panels to wall features and ceiling treatments.

Bring Texture and Intentionality to Your Space

The East Breeze Screen offers more than visual appeal—it’s a design tool for shaping light, sound, and space with purpose. Whether you’re enhancing a studio, refining an office, or exploring custom architectural elements, this screen invites thoughtful integration without permanence.
